Gives a reason the listener didn't know (you see, because...)

Examples

오늘 못 가요. 시험이 있거든요.

I can't go today. You see, I have an exam.

좀 일찍 갈게요. 약속이 있거든요.

I'll leave a bit early. You see, I have an appointment.

이 노래 알아요. 어제 들었거든요.

I know this song. I heard it yesterday, you see.

지금 밥 못 먹어요. 배가 안 고프거든요.

I can't eat now. I'm not hungry, you see.

한국어를 배워요. 한국에서 일하고 싶거든요.

I'm learning Korean. You see, I want to work in Korea.
